I am excited to share that I am now additionally licensed as an LPC Supervisor in Texas and how this is a wonderful opportunity and necessary step for the advancement of mental healthcare!
Texas LPC Supervisor
Texas LPC Supervisors provide 2-5 years of counseling service supervision required of provisionally licensed therapists, after they complete graduate school and pass a national exam. These provisionally licensed Therapists, also known as LPC Associates, must practice for 2-5 years and for at least 3,000 hours (1,500 hours must be direct counseling) under the supervision of a Licensed Professional Counselor Supervisor before they may become eligible to provide counseling and practice independently.
Texas LPC Supervision: Value to Mental and Spiritual Health
Since there is a severe shortage of available Therapists and LPC Supervisors to supervise Therapists who must be supervised, this means it makes it harder for you to find an available Therapist when you need it. As more LPC Supervisors become available, this will continue to make access to counseling more available.
I am also thankful to help close the additional gap that is present when seeking culturally and spiritually considerate counseling. This additional gap to services often makes it harder for people of faith and people of diverse cultures to receive effective treatment. I consider it an honor to support the professional development of the newest generation of Therapists, especially in the areas of thoughtful integration of science, faith and culture.
In a field where burnout is high which then can reduce the quality of care, I also value supporting Therapists in identifying and engaging opportunities to increase their wellbeing as professionals in the field. I look forward to introducing you to the LPC Associates I have been supervising and sharing how they positively impact the field of mental health and spiritual health in Texas and globally.
